Cycling on Anglesey and in SnowdoniaCircular route around AngleseyThis circular route is described on the website CycleRoute.com as being of medium difficulty and taking approximately 6 hours:"This is a circular route mostly using main roads, but if you pick the right day it is not too busy. It is an undulating route with some of the climbs being quite testing especially if you have a strong headwind, for this reason it is advised that a day without wind is the best day to do it. The traffic is not too bad for an A road if you pick the right day and time of year, although I went on the Saturday of the August Bank Holiday weekend and there was only fairly light traffic. The route would suit a quite experienced cyclist who wants to get some miles in, while riding through some nice countryside with good views along the way. There are also plenty of opportunities to stop off at interesting places if site seeing is your thing..." Cycling in SnowdoniaThis is not quite cycling on Anglesey but it is well worth mentioning here because it is still within easy access of Stick Cottage for keen mountain bikers. For example, Betws-y-Coed is only 40 minutes and Coed y Brenin is a little over an hour by car from Dwyran. The website Mountain biking in Wales outlines the now famous trails to be found in Snowdonia: "Spectacular all weather singletrack trail centres in North Wales such as Coed Y Brenin, Betws y Coed, Coed Llandegla, Hiraethog, Clwyds and Gwydyr forest. Wales has everything a mountain biker could want." Top |
